One week down....just a few more to go.

The first week of school always seems to crawl by for this teacher, and this year of course, was no exception. Crazy schedules, new faces, hours of teaching expectations, the anticipation of a new year, new books, new teacher, NEW SCHOOL SUPPLIES! It was all building, building, building.... Yet, for me, things never came to a head where everything came crashing down. Perhaps this is a good thing?

I mean, yes, we had some schedule mess-ups. Relationships with new staff were tense (and some old staff). But upon reflection of my first week of the 2015-16 school year, I can proudly say that I upheld my goal of being a marigold. Even some of my colleagues noticed and commented that I was being remarkably more positive! So, either I'm not usually very positive or I must have really been working hard!

I'm trying to also keep in mind that all of these kids are loved so much by someone. I am gifted the job of being with them for 2 short hours a day. During those 2 hours I have to somehow instill a lifelong love of reading and writing. I am hoping that I can make this happen for the majority of the 60+ students I have throughout the day.

I also have to give a major shout-out to my PLC team for being super stupendous and supportive at the beginning of the year. We work really well together, and I'm looking forward to our meetings and conversations. Thanks ladies and gentleman, for being so super awesome!

Time for some rest so this marigold can glow and stand tall among any walnut trees that may sprout up this week.
